I. Hair Loss
Alopecia, commonly known as hair loss is a condition where one loses enough hair and usually has visibly thin or balding patches.
Our hair is made up of fibrous structural protein called keratin. A single hair is composed of the hair shaft, a root underneath the skin and the follicle where the hair grows. At the lower part of the follicle is the hair bulb where the hair’s colour pigment melanin is produced.
Normally, hair growth cycle lasts for 2 to 3 years and each hair grows about 1 centimetre per month. Within this period, around 90 percent of the total hair is growing at a time and the other 10 percent is at rest. However, after 3-4 month, the hairs at rest fall out and will be replaced with new ones.
Shedding off some hairs each day is a part of this cycle. However, excessive hair loss may be the case of other people. Genetically, hair loss affects men more than women and children.
II. What causes it?
A number of factors can cause one to have an excessive hair loss.
For one, heredity is a factor. This is usually called male pattern baldness. It is the “most common cause of thinning hair”. Also, if one has undergone illness or major surgery, hair loss due to stress of the illness is possible, though only temporary.
Hormonal imbalance can also be a factor. Hair loss occurs when male or female hormones, androgens and estrogens are imbalanced. This is caused when the thyroid gland is either overactive or underactive. Correcting hormone imbalance, may be by treating thyroid- related diseases, may stop hair loss.

III. Shampoo for Hair Loss: How it works?
Many manufacturers of shampoos clam that they have the best hair loss shampoo. For one who suffers from hair loss, it is important to know what the best hair loss shampoo to use is. When choosing for a shampoo to use, organic ingredients must be considered. Organic hair loss shampoos are gentler with the hair and provide nourishment it needs.
Basically, hair loss shampoos work by breaking down DHT or the Dihydrotestosterone, a natural metabolite that causes hair loss, to allow hair follicle to heal and regain its normal size, thus, allowing new hairs to grow.
In addition, hair loss shampoos may also aid in clearing out scalp pores. This allows nutrients to penetrate hair follicles making the hair grow normally.
IV. Nizoral for hair Loss
There are many hair loss shampoo reviews available claiming about products to be effective in preventing hair loss. One notable product is the Nizoral hair loss shampoo.
Nizoral hair loss shampoo, also a “medicated anti-dandruff shampoo” is a widely used product for fungal infections and dandruff. Its main protein component, Ketoconazole, targets DHT on the scalp allowing a more healthy hair.
The Ketoconazole content in Nizoral comes in 1 percent and 2 percent concentrations. Its main use is treating acute dandruff and flaking problems. It also acts as an “anti steroidal hormone agent” against DHT in the hair and scalp.
Although considered to be one of the best hair loss shampoos, one should be very careful in applying this product. It is not recommended for those who have sensitive scalps. Some reports also show that too much use can cause allergies. Proper use of the product should be observed.
