I. Panic Attack and its Treatment

Panic attacks are said to be a condition that is characterized by sudden episodes of intense anxiety that has no concrete reason. Anxiety and panic attacks are said to interrelate although it should be known that they are not the same. An individual may have panic attack at any time and can happen to adults and even to children. Persons with panic attacks could have unexpected moment of panic. This may cause fear in the mind of the patients and can be very disturbing.

II. The Symptoms

There are various symptoms that may appear or may be felt while one is under panic attack. Some of these symptoms include rapid heart palpitations, hot flushes or chilling, sweating, trembling, shortness of breath, chest pains, dizziness, and the classic feeling of unreality or being detached from oneself.

It should be understood that most of the physical symptoms of this condition does not necessarily mean that there is a real problem going on. These symptoms occur due to the nerve impulses that were overdriven to different parts of the body during panic attacks.

III. Anxiety and Panic Attack Treatment

As one evident feature of panic attacks, the feeling of anxiety is one symptom that is being addressed in panic attack treatment. The cause of panic attacks are said to be unclear for every case. With this, anxiety and panic attack treatment may also be different from every person. Panic attack medications are used to help prevent or alleviate the symptoms felt. There were also natural panic attack treatments like psychotherapies including cognitive behavioural therapy, relaxation and meditation. These natural activities help relax the body and calm one’s anxiety.

In some cases where immediate solution to panic attacks are needed, there are sedative type of panic attack medications that can be used like Xanax and Klonopin. These drugs can be taken while in the middle of panic attack but is not recommended for a long term use.

For maintenance care, psychotherapies can help clear up the disorder. These therapies include relaxation techniques like muscle and breathing techniques.

IV. What Now?

Anxiety and panic attack treatment should be done in order to prevent increase the level of intensity of the condition. Using both medication and psychotherapy may help one relieve the condition in an early manner. More importantly, the support of the family and understanding is one key for the patient to take treatments properly.
